BEDRISYSTEMS / M&A IT CONSOLIDATION

M&A IT consolidation & tenant-to-tenant migration.

Consolidate Microsoft 365 tenants, identity, devices and licensing into one environment after a merger or acquisition, with a phased migration planned around the business.

One company on paper. Two of everything in IT.

After a merger or acquisition, the paperwork closes faster than the technology. The combined business often runs two Microsoft 365 tenants, two identity directories, two device-management systems and two sets of overlapping licenses. Every duplicate adds cost, support confusion and security gaps. BedriSystems scopes the consolidation so the combined company can work as one organization, in one environment, with one license position.

Decide what consolidates, and in which order.

A consolidation plan covers four layers: the Microsoft 365 tenants themselves (mailboxes, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive moving into the surviving tenant), identity (Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID merge, including stale-object cleanup), devices (bringing endpoints into one Intune management authority) and licensing (retiring duplicate subscriptions and right-sizing the combined count). The discovery inventory establishes what exists in each environment and which dependencies set the order of the moves.

Discovery, pilot, phased waves, hypercare.

The engagement follows four steps. Discovery builds the full inventory of users, mailboxes, data, devices, applications and domains across both environments. A pilot migration with a representative group validates the runbook before the business depends on it. Phased migration waves then move the remaining users on a communicated schedule, with coexistence maintained so the two sides can work together mid-project. Hypercare follows cutover: a defined period of heightened support while people settle into the consolidated environment.

Will people lose email during the move?

The most common worry is disruption, and it is the right question to ask before committing to a schedule. Mail routing and coexistence are planned so messages keep flowing during the waves, cutover windows are agreed around business hours, and each wave includes validation checks and a rollback decision point before the next begins. Minimal disruption is an outcome of the discovery and pilot work, not a promise made before it; the plan states what will be tested and what success means.

Proof, and your next step.

BedriSystems has delivered this work: a two-tenant, 120-mailbox consolidation after an acquisition — Exchange mailboxes, Teams, SharePoint and 83 Intune devices brought into a single tenant with an Active Directory / Entra ID merge — is documented in our success stories. Bring your entity structure, user and device counts, domain list and integration deadline to a consultation and we can scope the discovery phase and a realistic wave plan.

What we can help you scope.

  • Tenant-to-tenant Microsoft 365 migration planning
  • Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID consolidation
  • Intune device and license rationalization
  • Pilot, phased waves, coexistence and hypercare
